Rabies: Epitome of the One Health Paradigm

Rabies exemplifies the One Health approach, linking animal health, human health, veterinary services, public health, and community action. Because most human rabies cases are associated with infected animals, effective prevention depends on controlling the disease at its source while ensuring timely access to appropriate post-exposure care. This webinar examines the interconnected roles of animal vaccination, responsible animal population management, surveillance, laboratory diagnosis, exposure assessment, post-exposure prophylaxis, and community awareness. It also explores the importance of collaboration between veterinarians, medical professionals, public-health authorities, laboratories, policymakers, and communities. The session highlights how coordinated surveillance and prevention strategies can strengthen rabies control and contribute to the global goal of eliminating dog-mediated human rabies.
